Weddings in the Wood | New Forest Wedding

Fran & Liam’s day started off a little bit rainy – but I don’t mind that; in fact, I often think rain adds atmosphere to wedding photos! We’ve had the wettest summer I can remember, so all you can do is embrace it! I met Fran and her bridal party at a cute little cottage in the forest. Fran’s up-do was just so pretty, and perfect for the woodland-themed day. Hair and make-up artists Gemma Laverick Make-up ( who coincidentally I recognised from school!) and Hair by Danielle Tranter did an absolutely gorgeous job. Fran’s dress from May and Grace Bridal was a delicately embellished sleeveless gown, with stunning tie straps. The bridesmaids all wore a pretty pastel blue, and the floral colour scheme continued the lovely pastel palette, with pale yellow roses and pink peonies.

When we arrived at the venue (Weddings in the Wood) it looked picture-perfect; despite the rain, it was rustic, romantic and somehow just so British! The couple read out their personal vows, and were married under a little canopy. We headed over to the main part of the venue, and the decorations were stunning; an impressive cream tea had been laid on, courtesy of Jam & Tea, with macaroons, scones, clotted cream, and various other delights. The woodland decor worked so well, with linen cloths, danity flower displays and even little hand-made pots of honey. The wedding cake featured a cascading tumble of blue icing flowers and and blue and white icing.

We managed to duck in and out of the rain for some fun group shots, and couple shots before the guests were seated for some hilarious speeches! The newlyweds sliced their cake in style with a very cool Samurai sword. As the rain eased off, I took them into the woods for some romantic low-light evening portraits. The twinkling fairy lights and a warming fire pit made for the perfect end to a cosy fairytale woodland wedding.
