Cottiers | Glasgow Wedding
Cottiers is certainly a unique venue: right in the heart of Glasgow, it looks like an old church from the outside, but once inside you realise how special it really is. I could see immediately how much it suited Georgina and Andrew, and why they had chosen it! Heavy velvet drapes, beautiful original stone walls, and moody theatrical lighting…it set the scene for a fantastic wedding.
The day began, however, over at Georgina’s Mum’s gorgeous house. All the girls were dressed in beautiful bold colours and patterns, and the bridesmaids wore royal blue dresses from Monsoon. There was a mood of excitement and fun; I could tell that these guys were all going to be great to work with!
Georgina chose a simple yet stunning vintage gown embellished with delicate little beads from Coast. She went for a pretty ‘undone’ up-do (Pauline’s Hair and Beauty Salon). The (very glamorous) Mother of the Bride helped Georgina into her dress, complete with veil worn pinned to the shoulders.
Back to Cottiers, where Andrew and the lads were all dressed very smartly in the traditional Scottish attire- kilts! (Macgregor and Macduff) The grey colour scheme looked fantastic. As the guests were ushered inside, it really felt like a stage performance was about to begin…the couple had a traditional handfasting ceremony, which was conducted by their friend Brendan (complete with kilt and cowboy hat, not so traditional!!).
While I took the newlyweds away for some romantic city portraits together (joined by a couple of delightful labradors!) the room was transformed ready for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The was laughter and some tears as the family spoke about how proud they were of the couple.
Finally, the night ended on a high with a brilliantly fun, traditionally Scottish, Ceilidh. There was so much dancing, I don’t how everyone kept up! (I had to run backwards with my cameras hahah). The band (The Jiggers) were very very good, and had almost everyone in the room up and spinning around to the music.
