River Cottage | Devon wedding

Tasha & Danny

I initially met Tasha at a wedding fair, and I was struck by how absolutely beautiful she was! She was very friendly, and when she mentioned that she and her fiancé had a little dog, I knew we’d hit it off! She also asked for some videographer recommendations (which I’m always happy to provide) and I was very pleased when the couple booked Lukas & Laura to work with me).

When I arrived at River Cottage in Devon, I was offered a lift down from the car park to the main part of the venue, by Land Rover! The drive down revealed some breathtaking views of the hills, and I couldn’t wait to take the couple up there for their portraits.

The venue itself is a beautifully rustic old farmhouse and barns with a courtyard area in the centre, surrounded by acres of pretty farmland. It is such a picture perfect place to get married, I would definitely recommend it!

Tasha chose a delicately laced, vintage style gown with little flutter sleeves from Madi Lane Bridal (at The Farnham Boutique Bridal), accompanied by a small veil. She looked stunningly beautiful in it, and she wore her hair in a loose bohemian style, with a small section teased back to support the veil –  The hair and make-up team did a fabulous job (Amazing Face Dorset).

The colour scheme worked perfectly for this late summer wedding, with lots of oranges and deep reds in the flowers and the bridesmaids’ dresses. Even the groomsmens’ ties matched! It was nice having the guys there, to allow me to get some prep shots with them too. Tasha and Danny chose to do a reveal to each other just before the ceremony, which is great – I always enjoy doing something a little different. Their ceremony was outside (my favourite kind!), and they were joined by their sweet little doggy, Bilbo, a toy poodle, who was good as gold.

Afterwards, the guests headed to the field for drinks and outdoor games, whilst I took Tasha and Danny up the hill for some creative portraits. It really was a stunning backdrop, and I would love to shoot another wedding here! When we headed back to the venue, I managed to squeeze in some shots of the room, where the tables were arranged in a banquet style, and continued the colour scheme. There were some hilarious speeches (particularly Danny’s Dad, who was very animated!) and the food was to die for (the chef even came out to introduce the dishes).

Somehow we just about managed to find time to run out and capture some sunset photos with the couple, and let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. Tasha was just the loveliest, most elegant bride, and she looked great twirling in the sunset with her dashing groom by her side.
