English Garden Wedding | Hampshire

I met Anna and Tom (and their sweet Lab, Mango – did I mention I LOVE dogs?!) last summer at Anna’s parents’ house in Bursledon, right next to the river, for a pre-wedding shoot. When I asked “Why Mango?” they replied “We just love mango cocktails!”  I liked these guys straight away! They were both fun, friendly and so easy to get on with– I knew their wedding was going to be something special.

On the morning of the wedding, Shona (video) and I met Anna for bridal prep. She and her bridesmaids all looked gorgeous (I could totally see where they got their nickname ‘The Mingers’!!) Anna looked especially breathtaking in her elegant boat-neck wedding gown from Pronovias, at Anna Bridal. She went for natural make-up (Rachel Maslin) and a stunning sophisticated up-do (Laura Denny) – always a pleasure working with these two!

Anna’s parents had been kind enough to allow the wedding to be held in their beautiful garden, where the rhododendrons were just in bloom. Ten By Fifteen Structures provided the spacious stretch tent marquee to house the wedding breakfast, bar and dancefloor. Sarah Guild created the fabulous blooms for the day (boasting some eye-catching orange poppies, to complement the colour scheme – and Anna’s favourite colour!).

Tasha Mae was on hand all day, doing an excellent job on coordinating. The tasty food was courtesy of Forking Out, while Vodka Luge provided the 90kg ice sculpture of Darth Vader (it was May 4th after all) for everyone to guzzle vodka from.

Anna and Tom tied the knot in a cute little church just down the road, allowing all their guests to take a leisurely stroll back up through the garden afterwards. They were greeted by delicious canapés, beers in a boat, and a lively saxophonist.

The party kicked off in style, with a surprise singing waiter (Singing Surprise) getting everyone in the dancing mood. After they’d cut the cake, the dancing begun, with Waverly Band providing the tunes. The day was perfect – incredibly chic and stylish, whilst also feeling like a laid-back whimsical English garden party. The sun shone all day – it was the perfect way to kick off my summer wedding season.
